Favorite Things I've learned in my 23 Years on this Earth.

1. Don’t settle for anything less than what you deserve.

There will be plenty of people who come into your life and and say and do all the right things that your heart desires. Sometimes those people are there for a season, a reason, or a lifetime. Whatever the case may be, you are worthy of the utmost love and attention and if you are in a relationship that isn’t giving you that then that means it’s time to move on.

2. Don’t let fear consume you.

It’s okay to have fear. Having fear means you care about living your life with intention. But allowing fear to stop you from growing or creating creates a life not worth living. So start small and try to set a goal to do something you fear once a week.

3. “There’s room for all of us.”

Jealously is truly the ruiner of dreams and we waste a lot of energy not hoping and wishing for the best for all the people we love in our lives. We talk so much about pinning women against each other, especially black women because we’ve been beaten and battered with so much history that shows “there can only be one”. Well guess what? We were all put on this earth to create. We all have a purpose. But what we share is the ability to break down barriers and open doors for the women behind us. So we can move forward into a world that is accepting of all shapes, sizes, and colors. okay? Thank you.

4. You don’t have to tell your friends everything.

GET A THERAPIST SIS! There are people who went to school because they have the kindness and compassion in their hearts to learn how to work people through emotional trauma. Your best friend, though lovely and has THE BEST SENSE OF HUMOUR, is not always the best person to talk about those things with. Sometimes you put them in a position where their response could make or break you and thats not fair to either of you. There is no shame in therapy and now a lot more ways to be able to afford it. Go confidently, and get the help you need.

5. Love comes in all different forms.

I can honestly say I am in a place in my life where the people I surround myself with every day make me feel so much love. I am so happy to come to work and give love and receive love from my friends and co-workers. I receive love from the quiet time I take in the mornings and the writing and reading that I do. Those are things that make me happy and fill me up with so much love so that I can give more love to others around me.

6. Your body loves you so much, so why not love your body just as much?

Life is too short to punish your body because of the pizza you had last night. Life is too short to be at the gym for half of your day thinking your going to look better in that top for tonight’s party. Eat well, drink lots of water, and enjoy your life.

7. Practice loving yourself everyday!

Because there are going to be moments when its so hard to remember why you are loved and deserving. Someone is going to break your heart. You won’t get that job. You will feel rejected for the very thing you were put on this earth to do. Self-love is a journey and a process and working to strengthen that is working for the life that you are so deserving of.
